Emergency Email Communication from Leadership: On Thursday, February 27th at 8:00am, all JFEC families will receive a "TEST" email from administration through Aspen and Blackboard. If you do not receive this email, please communicate with me to update your contact information. Aspen and Blackboard are our primary email communication systems this year. These email systems operate as our information hotline to inform the community regarding institutional news, events, activities, and most importantly, to communicate with the community during emergencies. JFEC must ensure all families are informed of all events and emergencies via these databases. John Francis Education Campus will “practice” our building evacuation drill on Monday, March 3rd at 9:45am. In the event of a real emergency evacuation, students will exit the building to the backfield, then transition to the Fairmont Hotel as our emergency evacuation shelter location. Once all students are safely evacuated, you will receive an email from school leadership via Aspen and Blackboard. Leadership will provide details on the events leading to the evacuation, updates on our potential return to the building and/or provide instructions for you to pick up your child(ren) from our alternative location. Again, our March 3rd building evacuation will be a PRACTICE drill to ensure our facility, staff and students are well prepared in the event of an actual emergency. Please me know if you have additional questions regarding our drill procedures. Thank you in advance for your support!

The Gift of a Compliment Project
We are always in the spirit of encouraging kind words and actions here at John Francis Education Campus! Through our Gift of a Compliment Project, kindergarten wants to extend this "bucket-filling" concept to homes this winter break. The children have received the name of their gift partner. If you do not have the name of your child's gift partner's name, please email me. On Wednesday, December 18th, we will exchange compliment gifts.
Here are a few guidelines regarding the compliment "gifts:"
Please make sure the giver AND the receiver's names are somewhere on the projects.
Please refrain from buying a gift. Your child is asked to create something from materials you have at home. Please let me know if materials are needed, and I will ensure you have the necessary supplies.
The children will be instructed NOT to tell other students their assigned gift partners, as we want to keep everything a surprise!
Your child is encouraged to be as creative as possible!
Here are some ideas that students have done in the past:
· Write a card or letter
· Draw a picture and write a compliment on it.
· Write a postcard
· Make a collage
· Write a poem
· Make a diorama featuring that person
· Cut and paste magazine/newspaper pictures about their secret person
· Design an advertisement describing why this person is awesome
· Use the computer to make a special compliment
· Make a flyer
· Make a sculpture out of clay
